Buckwheat Express – Preston County, WV

The safety and comfort of all riders is our top priority. When boarding the bus, please take your seat and place any bags under your seat or in your lap. The aisle must be kept clear at all times. Please be respectful of all property, riders, and transit staff – this includes not intruding on the time of others by keeping your business and that of others to yourself. Any conversations should be kept quiet, inoffensive, and brief. Be sure to read the following additional rules and important information about riding Buckwheat Express.

ANIMALS

Only trained guide and service animals assisting persons with disabilities are permitted on vehicles.

BABY STROLLERS

Strollers must be small, foldable, and stowed away safely under your seat.

CELL PHONES

Cellular phones and electronic devices are permitted to be used onboard our vehicles. Please be considerate of other passengers by keeping your voice low and keeping conversations to a minimum. Do not take pictures of, or record, other riders.

DRINKING

Please refrain from consuming beverages of any kind while onboard.  Closed beverage containers are permitted onboard but beverages may not be consumed while on the vehicle.

EATING

Please refrain from eating while onboard Buckwheat Express vehicles.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS

Gasoline, car batteries, and any flammable liquids or substances are not permitted onboard Buckwheat Express vehicles.

HEADPHONES

Passengers must use headphones when listening to portable electronic devices. Please keep the volume at a reasonable level to avoid disturbing your fellow riders.

HEALTH STANDARDS

Passengers are expected to maintain cleanliness and health standards that do not jeopardize the health of drivers, themselves, or other passengers.

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Buckwheat Express is sometimes forced to delay or discontinue service in the event of severe weather conditions. Questions about service during extreme weather conditions may be directed to us at: 304-329-0464. When Preston County schools are closed due to bad weather, Buckwheat Express Services are cancelled, too.

LOST AND FOUND

Items found on Buckwheat Express vehicles may be turned into the vehicle operator. To report a lost item, please contact us at 304-329-0464. Items are kept for 30 days; perishable items are discarded the same day.

OVERSIZED ITEMS

Furniture, lumber, and other large items are not permitted on the vehicles.

SEATBELTS AND WHEELCHAIR SECUREMENT

For your safety, seatbelts are required. Seatbelt extenders are available if needed. Passengers must allow their wheelchairs to be secured.

SEATING

Front seats are reserved for disabled passengers and riders aged 60+.

SMOKING

Smoking is not permitted onboard vehicles.

STANDING PASSENGERS

In the event a seat is not available on your bus, you may stand in the aisle behind the yellow line clearly marked on the floor at the front of the vehicle. Please do not sit in the door stairwell as it represents a safety hazard to both you and your fellow riders. And please keep your arms, legs, and head inside the vehicle at all times.

TRASH

Please dispose of your trash in the onboard receptacles. Do your part to keep our buses and community clean.

UNRULY BEHAVIOR

Disruptive and unruly behavior is not permitted onboard Buckwheat Express vehicles.

Violation of these rules may result in the revocation
of your riding privilege and possible civil and/or criminal charges.
